A new administrator could facilitate a discussion about what their job as a principal is and is not and what the teacher's job is and is not. This activity would model for the teachers how to establish the role expectations in their own classroom with students. Establishing clear role expectations provides insights into each person's expectations and view of their role. Fostering a conversation about roles and clarifying expectations at the very beginning is a valuable activity when beginning with any new group, whether it is the staff or a new class of students.
