Shaping School Culture: Web Link
Beliefs answer the question: "What are our operating principles?" Beliefs focus passion and energy. They define how the collective group wants to be seen internally and externally. Many organizations are now getting very focused on their operating principles. The Lands' End Company devotes significant time on a regular schedule to develop shared understanding of their eight principles as they want all employees to live them at work.

Examples include:
  • "We accept any return, for any reason, at any time. Our products are guaranteed. No fine print. No arguments. We mean exactly what we say: Guaranteed. Period."
    -Lands End

  • "Everyone will be treated with dignity and respect each day, every day."
    (school example)

  • "We control the conditions in school that lead to success."
    (school example)

  • "We seek ways to help all learn, we don’t give up!"
    (school example)

  • "Our customers are Our Guests and all staff treats them that way."
    (corporate example)
