Using Their Data to Make Curriculum Decisions

Improving Instructional Data & Feedback Concept @ Work...Behavior First, Then Attitude
At the end of the year, the team sat down with Jolene and the AEA reading specialists to examine the final results. This is what they sat down to study:

Final Results Graph

"First of all, let's celebrate the fact that we moved from only seven students above the 50th percentile on the Spring norm to 49. That is an accomplishment!" said Jolene. "There is always room to improve but we know more now than we did at the beginning of the year. Notice that we have something that more closely resembles a 'J' curve at the final assessment on the spring norms. We have only one child in the lowest percentile group and an additional 16 in the grade not yet to the 50th percentile."

Final Results Performance, 2003-04 Graph

"It's nice to see graphs like that," Kathy said. "It confirms that we are helping a large number of students. I'm anxious to see the individual student chart and see where we have gaps."
