It is important for parents to see positive things happening at school. Try to recognize students for a wide variety of achievements in a wide variety of ways. The following are a few examples: |
- Academic letters and academic letter assembly. Ask the booster club to fund the awards and certificates. Invite parents to attend a fall awards assembly.
- Hang posters around the school recognizing outstanding achievement in co-curricular activities.
- Start a student of the month program.
- Have assemblies to recognize students by season.
- Have a special program to recognize and award senior scholarships and other honors.
- Develop a comprehensive display case plan.
- Use your school newsletter to highlight student accomplishments.
- Mention team and individual successes in the daily announcements.
- Send personal notes to students to congratulate them for their successes and leadership.

The message? The school cares about students and recognizes excellence in all forms. This can cause a positive ripple effect on the school, build school pride, and proactively minimize vandalism, violence, and other negative behaviors. |
