"It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped."

Robbins suggests that there are three decisions that control our destiny:
  1. Your decisions about what to focus on.
  2. Your decisions about what things mean to you.
  3. Your decisions about what to do to create the results you desire.
If you know anyone who is enjoying greater success than you, they're making these decisions differently from you in some context.

Moving from Head to Foot

Things that you want to have happen don't happen by default, by hope, by mandate, or by chance—they happen by design.

Once you have clarity about the future you want to create, it's a matter of acting congruently on a daily basis to influence the creation of your desired future. Make sense? Absolutely. Is it easy? Absolutely not.

Setting goals: the first step in turning thoughts into results

Creating a plan of action: all goal setting must be followed by both the development of a plan and consistent action toward its fulfillment.

Keeping your Vision Visible

One strategy for keeping your vision visible is to create a set of questions that you ask yourself daily.

Example questions for your morning drive:

  • What will I do today to become the kind of leader I want to become?
  • What am I enjoying most in my life now?
  • What am I proud of in my life now?
  • What did I learn yesterday that will give me wisdom today?

School Improvement Resources

Living in a clock-driven world, you may be used to prioritizing your schedule. Should you decide you will be guided more by the compass than the clock in the future, schedule your priorities.

Every week schedule time doing the things that are important to becoming your vision of leadership.
