Giving Give Staff a Business Card
Staff Development Idea

One of the things that seem to mark the fact you have reached a place of respect and professional accomplishment is the ownership of a business card. That business card boldly states your name. It contains where you work and a brief overview of what you do to fill your day or what you see as your role in that organization.

A business card—what a wonderful way to honor all the work support staff members put in to help make our learning organization strong and productive.

To start the school year, present each employee with a stack of 50 business cards. Include on the card the district’s mission statement and perhaps the theme for your year’s staff development. Print the cards on heavy stock paper and, if possible, in colored ink. The simple gesture honors the fact that everyone on this learning team is valued and regardless of the role we each play—we are impacting the life of each child we work with, each co-worker we share our work environment with, and the patrons that enter our buildings and grounds.
